I figured it’s best to give you five Goa beaches for foreigners so we can cover both North and South Goa.
There is always an argument about what side of Goa has the best beaches: is it the South or the North? In general, the south has more picturesque, quieter beaches, for those looking for peace and tranquility. Whereas, the northern beaches of Goa are more lively and filled with parties and lots of opportunities to drink.

So, it really depends on what you like.
1. Palolem beach
Palolem is a backpacker’s paradise and this picturesque beach is located in South Goa and it’s crescent-shaped beauty offers a range of boat trips to enjoy the sea and lots of beach huts which offer drinks, snacks and sun beds for relaxing.
The beach itself has tropical like views and you’ll find the waters are safe for swimming. There is usually a few lifeguards on duty too. The sand is white and the area is lined with palm trees. The area is actually well known for its silent discos (where you listen to music but with headphones on), keeping in tune with the tranquil essence of the area.
2. Ashwem Beach
This beach is located in North Goa and I would consider it one of the best beaches in Goa for foreigners who are looking for no crowds at all.

It’s considered one of the most well-maintained and cleanest beaches in Goa and it’s less crowded than the rest (which is really rare for busy Goa). Due to the lesser amount of people, the beach is a lot cleaner, as is the water. This makes it perfect for swimming.
This 1.5 km beach boasts beautiful blue water, swaying palm trees and soft sand. You’ll find a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants to eat and drink there are even sunbeds and umbrellas provided free of charge. Not bad eh!
You could do bodyboarding at this beach too thanks to the little waves.3. Candolim beach
This is a popular beach that’s also located in North Goa and it’s perfect for those seeking thrills and fun in the sun. It’s one of the three famous trio of most popular beaches in Goa: Baga, Calangute, and Candolim.
And it’s no surprise why. It’s a busy beach with sun beds lined across, so it’s a great spot to catch a tan.
It’s also popular with more foreign and domestic tourists, but you’ll often find in peak season, it’s flocked with foreigners, so if you don’t want to feel like you’re on a beach at “home”, then maybe head to one of the other beaches.
But, due to its popularity, it’s got everything you need for an amazing beach day or stay. It’s 30 kilometres long, making it one of the biggest stretches of beach in the state of Goa and it’s got bars, restaurants, beach shacks, 5 star resorts, hostels, everything you can imagine.
There are also a lot of water sports opportunities on this beach including, banana boat rides, parasailing and jet ski rides. These will only set you back around 300-500 rupees, so it’s good fun to get involved!

4. Morjim Beach
This beach is famous for its turtles, so if you love turtles as much as I do, then you’ll want to visit here! It’s the nesting ground of the endangered Olive Ridley Turtles.
There are many foreign tourists here and it’s very popular with Russians, probably why it’s known as “Little Russia”.
I once had a local lady trying to sell me something on the beach, (of course), but we chatted for about 20 minutes and all she did was complain about the Russians, which was strange. I haven’t had a bad encounter with any Russians yet, so I politely listened then left haha
So, this beach is located in North Goa too but it’s one of the “quieter” ones. It’s 3 km and has beautiful soft light sand and it’s a great spot for swimming. There is also the chance to see dolphins if you take a boat tour.

A little further up from the protected turtle area, you’ll find beach huts, food places and nightclubs. This is also a great beach for kitesurfing if you’ve ever wanted to try it!
The village of Morjim and the beach is not overly “touristy” and gives off an authentic Goan charm. So, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Last, but certainly not least, the last beach to feature on my list of best beaches in Goa for foreigners is Benaulim beach. It’s located in the South and is one of the evergreen beaches of Goa.
It’s a sandy beach with no rocks (so perfect for romantic walks down the beach).
It’s a very tranquil and “empty” beach and it’s perfect if you’re simply looking to escape and find your own thoughts. There are many foreign tourists who visit throughout the season, but even in peak season, it’s still the quietest beach in South Goa.
After a long walk on the beautiful empty beach, you can retreat to one of the beach shacks for some local food and a well-deserved drink.

There are two beaches that can fall under this category: Vagator and Colva.
Firstly, Vagator. This is one of the most popular beaches in Goa for nightlife and young people, and there are many beach bars and clubs that offer raves. (India LOVES its rave music). It’s not a smooth beach, it’s a rocky beach, with red cliffs. It’s also the best beach in Goa for a sunset.
Bradley and I went to Vagator, over our 3 year anniversary. It’s not a couples beach, it’s not even a romantic, can walk on the sand beach. It’s an area to get drunk and have fun, and that’s what you can do on Vagator.
I liked it, but I liked the South of Goa WAY better. Vagator also includes little Ozran beach which also has bars and is easy to travel between.
Secondly, Colva beach. This is located in South Goa and it’s a really cool beach that’s popular with locals. It’s not picturesque or “pretty”, but it’s got lots of cool beach restaurants and bars which offer an amazing sunset view.
It’s also got a lot of happy hours and water sports activities for cheap. You can parasail, jet ski, banana boat, and much more, for very little money.Best beach to swim in Goa
If you love to swim in the sea (which Bradley really does), then there are lots of swimming opportunities both north and south of Goa. Actually, all of the beaches I’ve mentioned so far can be swam in, but our favourite is Palolem beach, which made the top five best beaches in Goa for foreigners list.
Best beach in Goa for couples
Mobor beach is a good choice for couples travelling together. It’s located in South Goa, next to the Cavelossim beach and it offers something for every couple. There are many restaurants and bars to enjoy romantic beach meals, there are beautiful sunsets, there are cruises on the Sal, dolphin and bird tours.
It’s even got the two most expensive hotels in Goa, and the best casino (if you’re into gambling).
It’s a very picturesque beach which adds to the element of romance it exudes. The sand is very light in color, fine and softly squeaks under your feet. I think it’s a great choice for couples, and again, Palolem beach is also great for couples too.

How do I get to these beaches?
Goa is actually quite a big state (even though it’s the smallest state in India). What I mean is, it’s not just a case of hopping on a metro or train to each beach. Choose a main location to stay such as Panaji and you can use taxis (no Uber or Ola in Goa- the state doesn’t allow it), buses or even rent your own moped to visit all the beaches of Goa.
Driving your own moped in Goa is quite safe and it’s actually very serene and pretty. (And cheap!)

It’s considered one of the most well-maintained and cleanest beaches in Goa and it’s less crowded than the rest (which is really rare for busy Goa). Due to the lesser amount of people, the beach is a lot cleaner, as is the water. This makes it perfect for swimming.
This 1.5 km beach boasts beautiful blue water, swaying palm trees and soft sand. You’ll find a wide range of cafes, pubs, restaurants to eat and drink there are even sunbeds and umbrellas provided free of charge. Not bad eh!
You could do bodyboarding at this beach too thanks to the little waves.3. Candolim beach
This is a popular beach that’s also located in North Goa and it’s perfect for those seeking thrills and fun in the sun. It’s one of the three famous trio of most popular beaches in Goa: Baga, Calangute, and Candolim.
And it’s no surprise why. It’s a busy beach with sun beds lined across, so it’s a great spot to catch a tan.
It’s also popular with more foreign and domestic tourists, but you’ll often find in peak season, it’s flocked with foreigners, so if you don’t want to feel like you’re on a beach at “home”, then maybe head to one of the other beaches.
But, due to its popularity, it’s got everything you need for an amazing beach day or stay. It’s 30 kilometres long, making it one of the biggest stretches of beach in the state of Goa and it’s got bars, restaurants, beach shacks, 5 star resorts, hostels, everything you can imagine.
There are also a lot of water sports opportunities on this beach including, banana boat rides, parasailing and jet ski rides. These will only set you back around 300-500 rupees, so it’s good fun to get involved!

4. Morjim Beach
This beach is famous for its turtles, so if you love turtles as much as I do, then you’ll want to visit here! It’s the nesting ground of the endangered Olive Ridley Turtles.
There are many foreign tourists here and it’s very popular with Russians, probably why it’s known as “Little Russia”.
I once had a local lady trying to sell me something on the beach, (of course), but we chatted for about 20 minutes and all she did was complain about the Russians, which was strange. I haven’t had a bad encounter with any Russians yet, so I politely listened then left haha
So, this beach is located in North Goa too but it’s one of the “quieter” ones. It’s 3 km and has beautiful soft light sand and it’s a great spot for swimming. There is also the chance to see dolphins if you take a boat tour.
Best Casino In Goa For Family Member
A little further up from the protected turtle area, you’ll find beach huts, food places and nightclubs. This is also a great beach for kitesurfing if you’ve ever wanted to try it!
The village of Morjim and the beach is not overly “touristy” and gives off an authentic Goan charm. So, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Last, but certainly not least, the last beach to feature on my list of best beaches in Goa for foreigners is Benaulim beach. It’s located in the South and is one of the evergreen beaches of Goa.
It’s a sandy beach with no rocks (so perfect for romantic walks down the beach).
It’s a very tranquil and “empty” beach and it’s perfect if you’re simply looking to escape and find your own thoughts. There are many foreign tourists who visit throughout the season, but even in peak season, it’s still the quietest beach in South Goa.
After a long walk on the beautiful empty beach, you can retreat to one of the beach shacks for some local food and a well-deserved drink.
So, now that we’ve finished with the best beaches in Goa for foreigners, I’m going to consider some other beaches in Goa that fit other categories….keep reading! Best beach in Goa for nightlife
There are two beaches that can fall under this category: Vagator and Colva.
Firstly, Vagator. This is one of the most popular beaches in Goa for nightlife and young people, and there are many beach bars and clubs that offer raves. (India LOVES its rave music). It’s not a smooth beach, it’s a rocky beach, with red cliffs. It’s also the best beach in Goa for a sunset.
Bradley and I went to Vagator, over our 3 year anniversary. It’s not a couples beach, it’s not even a romantic, can walk on the sand beach. It’s an area to get drunk and have fun, and that’s what you can do on Vagator.
I liked it, but I liked the South of Goa WAY better. Vagator also includes little Ozran beach which also has bars and is easy to travel between.
Secondly, Colva beach. This is located in South Goa and it’s a really cool beach that’s popular with locals. It’s not picturesque or “pretty”, but it’s got lots of cool beach restaurants and bars which offer an amazing sunset view.
It’s also got a lot of happy hours and water sports activities for cheap. You can parasail, jet ski, banana boat, and much more, for very little money.Best beach to swim in Goa
If you love to swim in the sea (which Bradley really does), then there are lots of swimming opportunities both north and south of Goa. Actually, all of the beaches I’ve mentioned so far can be swam in, but our favourite is Palolem beach, which made the top five best beaches in Goa for foreigners list.
Best beach in Goa for couples
Mobor beach is a good choice for couples travelling together. It’s located in South Goa, next to the Cavelossim beach and it offers something for every couple. There are many restaurants and bars to enjoy romantic beach meals, there are beautiful sunsets, there are cruises on the Sal, dolphin and bird tours.
It’s even got the two most expensive hotels in Goa, and the best casino (if you’re into gambling).
It’s a very picturesque beach which adds to the element of romance it exudes. The sand is very light in color, fine and softly squeaks under your feet. I think it’s a great choice for couples, and again, Palolem beach is also great for couples too.

Gosh, Goa has so many beaches that it would impossible to visit them all unless you stayed for weeks upon weeks. So, if you want to know the most popular and most famous beaches in Goa, I’ve made a little list.

As I say, there is nothing wrong with locals being at the beach, but sometimes it’s nice to escape the crowds and simply feel like you’re in a whole different world, and these beaches will help get you there.

How do I get to these beaches?
Goa is actually quite a big state (even though it’s the smallest state in India). What I mean is, it’s not just a case of hopping on a metro or train to each beach. Choose a main location to stay such as Panaji and you can use taxis (no Uber or Ola in Goa- the state doesn’t allow it), buses or even rent your own moped to visit all the beaches of Goa.
Driving your own moped in Goa is quite safe and it’s actually very serene and pretty. (And cheap!)
So what is the best beach for foreigners in Goa? Well it depends on what you want and your personality, but hopefully it’s a little clearer where you should go after reading this post.

To complete your poker success profile, you should get cash in WSOP, not to mention winning the WSOP bracelet, which is the most prestigious trophy. That is why Viktor Blom should try at least to add some WSOP lines to the book of his poker life. And he did it!

Back then, the true identity of Isildur1 was not fully revealed to the public, and it was not clear whether Viktor Blom was indeed that very Isildur1; and vice versa! This only led to ever greater attention towards the performances of the young Swedish phenomenon, whose style of play was considered by many as overly aggressive.

Ian Munns on the other hand, is an ameteur player from England with only $6,000 in earnings and not much experience on the felt. Unfortunately for him, he did not cash this event. This first claim for WSOP fame was not successful for Viktor Blom. But his failed bluff against English amateur Ian Munns definitely deserved attention, as it was highlighted over the web as one of the most epic bluffs, and widely discussed in attempts to figure out the logic of this epic failure.

Blom pre-flop raised to £3,000, Munns three-bet to £9,000, which should have already served as a warning to Blom. But he called, and they saw the flop A♦A♣3♣ — just a perfect flop to Munns giving him trips. At this point Blom checked, Munns bet £9,000 and Blom raised it up to £58,000. Munns raised to £116,000. It is indeed quite difficult to explain what Viktor Blom might have had in mind, but at this point, he shoved all-in for £231,000 — pretty suicidal after that flop, and also against the 96% equity of his opponent. Maybe Viktor just had hoped that Munns would fold at that point. But Munns tanked, though not for long; and then called, and opened his cards!
Blom screwed his face up, stood up and went out, barely looking at the 10♣ on the turn and the 3♦ on the river. The hand was played, constituting one of the most epic fails in the history of poker bluffs.WSOP Europe Main Event, 2010, London
It was an intense and high-competition £10,350 No-Limit Hold’em buy-in tournament which was taking place at the Casino at the Empire in London. After two days, Viktor Blom was heading the peloton. Here is the list of the top 6 chip stacks:

This WSOP event was held in Vegas, in Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Viktor Blom was an also-runner here, having finished 151st and won $2,706 only.

Viktor Blom was a lot more successful at this event in Vegas. He finished 14th, cashing $105,235, though at one moment he was leading the race after this hand:

On the flop interesting of 10♠9♥5♣ Cassidy checked and Blom bet $38,000. Cassidy raised to $138,000, and Blom called. The A♦ on the turn made Cassidy pot it for $485,000, having set of tens. Blom called and went all-in, hoping for his set of nines. And here came the 9♣ on the river, which was a miraculous one-outer. Both players jumped off their seats, overwhelmed with totally opposite emotions.
It was on Day 3. With that pot, Blom led the peloton of 26 players. But Day 4 was less lucky for him. He finished 14th with $105,235, which was a good result anyway.But Is It Really Worth It?

Brunson has been shut out since 2005, when he took down a $5,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Short-Handed event for $367,000, defeating a competitive final table that also included Minh Ly, Layne Flack, and Scotty Nguyen.
Brunson will captain Table 10 on Tuesday at the Casino at the Empire, where he’ll be joined by online poker players Justin “Boosted J” Smith and Christian Kruel. Smith is fresh off a third place effort in the Bellagio Cup, a stop on the World Poker Tour (WPT). He earned $464,000 at the Las Vegas casino back in July. Kruel can be found on the virtual felts of PokerStars under the screen name “C.K.” He won a $530 buy-in $80,000 Guaranteed High Roller tournament on PartyPoker in mid-August for $22,000.
Also in the Top 10 in London is Team PokerStars Pro member Jason Mercier. In May, he took down a tournament held during the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) for $86,000 and then followed up that performance with a bracelet win in a $1,500 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha event during the 2009 WSOP. Mercier recorded four cashes overall during the WSOP and was quickly scooped up by PokerStars to join their pro team. He also competed in the star-studded field of the Ante Up for Africa charity poker tournament, which aired on ESPN. Mercier owns the 10th largest stack at 202,300.
Liz Lieu doubled her stack holding pocket aces on Monday in the WSOP Europe Main Event. Entering play on Day 3, she sits at 16th in the chip counts with 184,400. Meanwhile, November Nine member James Akenhead also remains in contention. Akenhead, a Brit on his home turf, sent Nick Bleeker packing after coming out on the winning end of a race holding pocket jacks against A-K. The board ran out 9-7-Q-Q-7, pushing Akenhead to 250,000 in chips. He ended the day with 178,000, which was good for 17th overall. Fellow November Nine member Antoine Saout, who held a Top 10 stack entering Day 2 play on Monday, fell back to 50th on the leaderboard with 90,100.

Blom pre-flop raised to £3,000, Munns three-bet to £9,000, which should have already served as a warning to Blom. But he called, and they saw the flop A♦A♣3♣ — just a perfect flop to Munns giving him trips. At this point Blom checked, Munns bet £9,000 and Blom raised it up to £58,000. Munns raised to £116,000. It is indeed quite difficult to explain what Viktor Blom might have had in mind, but at this point, he shoved all-in for £231,000 — pretty suicidal after that flop, and also against the 96% equity of his opponent. Maybe Viktor just had hoped that Munns would fold at that point. But Munns tanked, though not for long; and then called, and opened his cards!

Both players jumped off their seats, overwhelmed with totally opposite emotions.

The inn was small, out of the way, and shady-looking. It was the kind of place that petty criminals would get together to play cards and drink, and where prostitutes would gather, waiting for the cover of night and shooting sultry looks at potential clients. It was the kind of place that Ryou never even would have thought existed just a few months ago when he was living in the palace, let alone set foot in.

Truth be told, he wasn’t exactly comfortable in less-than-reputable inns like this, Ryou thought as he shrunk away from the sets of eyes that had been sizing him up from the minute he’d walked through the door.
But Bakura was there, and as Ryou looked up at his silver-haired lover standing next to him and boldly staring down anyone who even glanced their way he knew that as long as he could be with Bakura he’d be happy sleeping on the streets, let alone this place.
’Ryou.’ The call of his name was almost silent, but Ryou heard it and looked up to meet Bakura’s gaze. At his confident smirk, the former prince felt himself relaxing slightly.
’Yes, Bakura?’
The thief led him over to a table, speaking quietly in his ear as they walked. ’I’m going to get us a room for the night. I’ll be back in a minute; stay here, don’t draw attention to yourself, and don’t make eye contact, okay?’
’Alright,’ Ryou nodded, swallowing nervously as he sat down. Bakura, sensing his distress, gently ran a comforting hand through his hair.
’You’ll be fine.’ Bakura looked down at him, his expression softened into the gentle smile he only ever showed to Ryou. Ryou smiled back, a warm feeling spreading through his chest at the look he only rarely got to see. Bakura passed one more fleeting touch over his hair, and then he was gone, striding confidently around tables and drunken patrons.
Ryou folded his hands on the table and kept his gaze firmly glued to his fingers. Now that Bakura was gone, he could feel the gazes returning, and he knew what they were seeing. His skills lay mostly with math, politics, and history: things he learned from books. He could admit that he was on the scrawny side, and though Bakura had been teaching him how to fight while they’d been travelling, he hadn’t been doing that well.
All in all, he might as well have ’Please beat the shit out of me, take all of my money, and leave me bleeding in an alleyway’ tattooed across his forehead. ’We’re playin’ poker, and we need another player,’ the man grinned, revealing cracked and yellowed teeth. ’Ya look like ya got money, kid. Why don’tcha join us?’
Ryou got the feeling that that hadn’t been a request. He turned, looking hopefully at the doorway through which Bakura had disappeared, but his boyfriend was nowhere to be found. Slowly, he got up and began to follow the other man to a table filled with guys that were just as terrifying as the first.
Gulping, Ryou began to contemplate his chances of survival if he just made a run for it. He didn’t even have that much money on him. In the first few weeks of him and Bakura being together, Ryou had been mugged. Of course, Bakura had been livid and the mugger’s body probably still hadn’t been fished out of the river. That was when Bakura began teaching Ryou how to fight, as well as when he started to handle most of the money.
He did have some, but that was mostly for emergencies and not nearly enough for him to die over, though he was beginning to fear that that was how his new tablemates were expecting to end the situation.

He hadn’t wanted to leave Ryou alone, but innkeepers were notorious gossips and with Ryou’s father still looking for him the less people that saw him the better. Now he was wishing he’d come up with a better plan.
Just as Bakura was about to begin his version of panicking, i.e., threatening to murder everyone in the room until they told him what happened to Ryou, he heard a dissatisfied shout come from the other side of the room. Instinctively, he turned, his well-trained senses trying to identify a threat. Instead he saw something that almost had him falling over in shock.

’This is fun! Do you guys want to play another round?’ Bakura heard him ask as he walked closer. The other men glared and muttered angrily about beginners luck as they accepted the challenge. Each of them pushed the rest of their money, not that they had very much left, into the center, and the cards were dealt.
Bakura couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Ryou frowning pensively down at his cards. Since when was Ryou good at poker? Sure, they’d played Gin Rummy and War back at the palace and Ryou hadn’t been too bad, but he didn’t even think Ryou knew how to play poker, let alone be able to win enough hands to get that much money from these card sharks.
He walked up behind Ryou, intent on dragging the younger man away before the others got violent. He ended up almost choking on air when he saw Ryou surreptitiously slide a few cards out of his sleeve and tuck a different few up it. Then, with an innocent smile, he displayed his cards.
’Royal Straight Flush!’
Ryou wasn’t winning because he was lucky; he was cheating! The other players all groaned in defeat while Bakura stared at his lover and tried to decide whether to be horrified or proud.
Either way, he had to get Ryou out of there before his tablemates got wise about how he’d cleaned them out. He quickly strode forward the last few steps and placed a hand on Ryou’s shoulder.
’Time to go.’
Ryou looked up, his instinctive fear at being snuck up on giving way to relief when he saw who it was. Then he seemed to remember Bakura’s original instructions and bit his lip. ’I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-’
Bakura shook his head. ’It’s fine. But I think you’ve won enough money for today. Let’s go.’
Ryou nodded, scooping up his winnings as quickly as he could while Bakura began to drag him away from the table. It wasn’t until they were safely in their room that he spoke.
’What were you thinking?’
The pale haired boy looked down at the ground, clutching his bag of coins in his hand. ’I’m sorry, I know you told me not to talk to anyone, but the guy was really scary and I didn’t want to antagonize him by-’
Bakura sighed and put a hand over Ryou’s mouth to stop his profusion of apologies. ’That’s not what I meant; I knew that wasn’t your fault. I meant with the cards, and how you were using your sleeves. Don’t you know that it’s dangerous to do stuff like that when playing against people like them?’
Ryou cocked his head, looking both relieved that Bakura wasn’t mad and confused about what he said. He removed the hand from his mouth so he could speak.
’What do you mean? That’s what Joey would do whenever he and the other guards were gambling at the palace, and he always did well. Isn’t that how you play?’
Complete silence fell as Bakura stared, dumbfounded, at Ryou. There was no way. It couldn’t be possible.

Bakura suddenly stepped back, doubling over as his shoulders began to shake. Ryou’s eyes widened and he ran forward.
’Bakura? Bakura, are you okay?’
And then Bakura threw his head back and started to laugh. His eyes shone with mirth, and if Ryou wasn’t so confused he would have been awed at the pure amusement and joy that graced his lover’s face. As it was, his befuddlement only seemed to make Bakura laugh harder.
Eventually he managed to catch his breath and stop laughing. He looked up at Ryou from where he was still hunched over, his gaze half-hidden beneath his bangs in a way that made Ryou flush red.
All at once, Bakura straightened up, grabbed Ryou and pulled him into a kiss. The younger boy yelped in surprise before relaxing, arms moving to twine around Bakura’s neck as the older boy lifted a hand to cup his cheek. Slowly, Bakura pulled back, choosing instead to press their foreheads together and meet Ryou’s gaze.
’Ryou,’ he said softly, amusement still coloring his tone as he grinned, ’no matter what happens, don’t ever change.’
Confused once again, Ryou opened his mouth to ask a question. But when Bakura leaned down to kiss him once more, he decided that he didn’t really need to know the answer after all.
You’ll probably see more one and two-shots set in this universe as the spirit moves me. Until then!
The ’Treasure’ universe was just too much fun to play with for me to ignore. So when this little plot bunny began to bounce around in my head I really had no choice but to write it. This is set a couple of months after the events of ’Treasure’. You don’t have to read that to read this, but it might make a bit more sense if you do.

Slowly, Bakura pulled back, choosing instead to press their foreheads together and meet Ryou’s gaze.
’Ryou,’ he said softly, amusement still coloring his tone as he grinned, ’no matter what happens, don’t ever change.’
Confused once again, Ryou opened his mouth to ask a question. But when Bakura leaned down to kiss him once more, he decided that he didn’t really need to know the answer after all.

The ’Treasure’ universe was just too much fun to play with for me to ignore. So when this little plot bunny began to bounce around in my head I really had no choice but to write it. This is set a couple of months after the events of ’Treasure’. You don’t have to read that to read this, but it might make a bit more sense if you do.

The inn was small, out of the way, and shady-looking. It was the kind of place that petty criminals would get together to play cards and drink, and where prostitutes would gather, waiting for the cover of night and shooting sultry looks at potential clients. It was the kind of place that Ryou never even would have thought existed just a few months ago when he was living in the palace, let alone set foot in.
Truth be told, he wasn’t exactly comfortable in less-than-reputable inns like this, Ryou thought as he shrunk away from the sets of eyes that had been sizing him up from the minute he’d walked through the door.
But Bakura was there, and as Ryou looked up at his silver-haired lover standing next to him and boldly staring down anyone who even glanced their way he knew that as long as he could be with Bakura he’d be happy sleeping on the streets, let alone this place.
’Ryou.’ The call of his name was almost silent, but Ryou heard it and looked up to meet Bakura’s gaze. At his confident smirk, the former prince felt himself relaxing slightly.
’Yes, Bakura?’
The thief led him over to a table, speaking quietly in his ear as they walked. ’I’m going to get us a room for the night. I’ll be back in a minute; stay here, don’t draw attention to yourself, and don’t make eye contact, okay?’
’Alright,’ Ryou nodded, swallowing nervously as he sat down. Bakura, sensing his distress, gently ran a comforting hand through his hair.
’You’ll be fine.’ Bakura looked down at him, his expression softened into the gentle smile he only ever showed to Ryou. Ryou smiled back, a warm feeling spreading through his chest at the look he only rarely got to see. Bakura passed one more fleeting touch over his hair, and then he was gone, striding confidently around tables and drunken patrons.
Ryou folded his hands on the table and kept his gaze firmly glued to his fingers. Now that Bakura was gone, he could feel the gazes returning, and he knew what they were seeing. His skills lay mostly with math, politics, and history: things he learned from books. He could admit that he was on the scrawny side, and though Bakura had been teaching him how to fight while they’d been travelling, he hadn’t been doing that well.
All in all, he might as well have ’Please beat the shit out of me, take all of my money, and leave me bleeding in an alleyway’ tattooed across his forehead. Ryou leaned further over the table, letting his bangs fall across his face. Maybe he should just go after Bakura; staying alone didn’t seem like such a good idea anymore.
Just as he was about to get up, a shadow fell across the table. Ryou stiffened, but kept his head down.
’Oi, kid.’
’Don’t make eye contact, don’t make eye contact, don’t make eye contact,’ he chanted mentally, keeping his head down and praying that whoever it was would go away if he didn’t acknowledge him.

Ryou flinched at the rough, impatient tone, and slowly looked up. A tall, buff man with a bottle of rum in one hand and a deck of cards in the other was standing over him.
’Y-yes?’
’We’re playin’ poker, and we need another player,’ the man grinned, revealing cracked and yellowed teeth. ’Ya look like ya got money, kid. Why don’tcha join us?’
Ryou got the feeling that that hadn’t been a request. He turned, looking hopefully at the doorway through which Bakura had disappeared, but his boyfriend was nowhere to be found. Slowly, he got up and began to follow the other man to a table filled with guys that were just as terrifying as the first.
Gulping, Ryou began to contemplate his chances of survival if he just made a run for it. He didn’t even have that much money on him. In the first few weeks of him and Bakura being together, Ryou had been mugged. Of course, Bakura had been livid and the mugger’s body probably still hadn’t been fished out of the river. That was when Bakura began teaching Ryou how to fight, as well as when he started to handle most of the money.
He did have some, but that was mostly for emergencies and not nearly enough for him to die over, though he was beginning to fear that that was how his new tablemates were expecting to end the situation.
Then again, they were probably so confident that they’d crush him that they didn’t care if it was a bit less than they usually got. This really wasn’t a good idea; Ryou didn’t get to play poker very often, and he didn’t want to let Bakura down even more. Maybe he should just-
’You sit ’ere, kid,’ the man pushed Ryou into one of the two empty chairs, taking the other for himself, and all of the sudden the former prince was surrounded. So much for escaping. It seemed like he’d just have to try to hold his own until Bakura came back.
’Please hurry, Bakura,’ Ryou whispered pleadingly as he accepted his hand.

Bakura walked back into the common area, completely at ease among the ruffians and thugs. Their room for the night had been secured, and after some… convincing, they had also gotten a free meal. Ryou would be happy.

And speaking of his beloved,Bakura frowned when he reached the table he’d left Ryou at. The empty table. He felt a cold trickle of dread gather in the pit of his stomach as his mind began to conjure up images of all the horrible things that could have happened to Ryou while he was gone.
His extensive experience with gore and horror wasn’t being particularly helpful.
He hadn’t wanted to leave Ryou alone, but innkeepers were notorious gossips and with Ryou’s father still looking for him the less people that saw him the better. Now he was wishing he’d come up with a better plan.
Just as Bakura was about to begin his version of panicking, i.e., threatening to murder everyone in the room until they told him what happened to Ryou, he heard a dissatisfied shout come from the other side of the room. Instinctively, he turned, his well-trained senses trying to identify a threat. Instead he saw something that almost had him falling over in shock.
A small group of men were gathered around a poker table, staring in disbelief between their cards and the large pile of winnings that was lying at one end of the table. And seated behind it, a pleasant smile on his face, was Ryou.
’This is fun! Do you guys want to play another round?’ Bakura heard him ask as he walked closer. The other men glared and muttered angrily about beginners luck as they accepted the challenge. Each of them pushed the rest of their money, not that they had very much left, into the center, and the cards were dealt.
